Mrs. Fahmeena Bano Saheba, a daughter of a widow, lives with her old, weak, and ailing mother.
We discovered Fahmeena when she visited the TMT office with her mother, who receives Medical Aid from us. In distress, she narrated her heart- wrenching story. She was in the fourth month of pregnancy, with no support from anywhere.
Married at a very young age, her first marriage ended in divorce. She remarried, but her second husband deserted her when she was two months pregnant. Her father, who was ill, passed away, leaving the family in complete shambles. We immediately enrolled her in our mother and Child Care Program, guided her to consult Balrampur Hospital (a government hospital), and provided her with regular moral and material support.
She delivered a healthy female child. Though heartening, the survival of three generations of females with no support is a huge challenge. We are supporting the elderly widow with a monthly food packet, which suffices for their needs.
