• HIZA Charitable Hospital’s fundamental purpose is the delivery of low cost health treatment, care and diagnosis as well as health promotion and preventative services primarily to under-privileged people.
• Earlier established and funded by Ahlul Bayt Foundation, Najafi House Mumbai in 1992, the hospital now operates under the administration of TMT.
• Location in old Lucknow it provides medicines at nominal cost of Rs 5 to people living below the poverty line.
• Physiotherapy, X-ray and pathological examinations and physical therapy treatment of the handicapped, destitute and widows are conducted regularly at a nominal fee or cost free at HIZA.
• It facilitated minor surgical procedures, gynaecology, paediatrics and orthopaedics.
• WHO sponsored microscopy DOTS centre to eradicate TB is now part of hospital.
• HIZA is also manages a branch of the smile train project in collaboration with the Vivekanand Polyclinic in Lucknow. More than a dozen cleft palette patient receive surgical repairs.
• For the medical awareness among the masses, regular campaigns are undertaken on person hygiene, sanitation, hazards of smoking and chewing pan masala, STDs and other communicable diseases. Immunization and pulse polio program are held once a week.
• More than 15,830 patients attend the clinic every month.
• About 105 T.B. patients were examined and treated under the DOTS program.
