Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA) is an act to regulate the acceptance and utilization of foreign contribution or foreign hospitality by certain individuals, associations or companies and to prohibit acceptance and utilization of foreign contribution or foreign hospitality for any activities detrimental to the national interest and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Registration under FCRA is compulsory for any NGO or association that wants to receive foreign donations or funds from foreign sources. Once registered, NGOs can receive foreign funds legally and must maintain transparency by filing regular returns with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
